We are Aubrey and Olivia, an identical twin violin-cello folk duo from Chandler, Arizona.
Our musical training began with classical music and quickly evolved to include many other styles. Now, you’ll find us playing everything from traditional Irish and Scandinavian tunes to jazz standards and original compositions.
Check out our debut EP As I Wander, released in April 2025, and keep a look out for the release of our second EP Evelyn in September 2025!
Aubrey Breen
Aubrey Breen is a cellist, vocalist, and songwriter based in Boston, MA. She recently graduated from the University of Notre Dame where she studied music and theology. While at Notre Dame, she performed with the Notre Dame Folk Choir. In May 2022, she traveled to Jerusalem with the choir to record The Passion, for which she arranged string parts. Her other projects involving the choir include arranging and performing Joe Troop’s “Rearrange My Heart,” and coordinating and playing cello in the choir’s Spring 2023 East Coast tour, which included venues like The Town Hall (NYC), Strathmore (Bethesda, MD) and The Byham Theater (Pittsburgh, PA).
Aubrey lived in Galway, Ireland for a year where she brought her cello to pub sessions across the island, making lasting friendships and diving into the tunes, styles, and customs of the Irish traditions. While in Ireland, she worked and conducted research in the Irish Traditional Music Archive in Dublin, and performed at the Royal Irish Academy of Music with fiddler Liam O’Connor, uilleann piper Seán Potts, Matt Malloy (The Chieftains), Kevin Conneff (The Chieftains), Paul Dooley, and Edwina Guckian. After returning to the US, she performed with The High Kings at the Inauguration of Notre Dame’s 18th President. In March 2025, she organized and presented a series of workshops, concerts, and lectures titled, “Sharing the Living Tradition: Irish Traditional Music, Identity, and Culture” in which she brought five University of Galway musicians to South Bend, Indiana.
Aubrey’s musical interests are primarily focused in folk traditions. Beyond Irish music, she loves the depth and unique harmonies found in Scandinavian music. She attended Ransäterstämman, a cultural music and dance festival in Ransäter, Sweden, and began making connections with Scandinavian musicians, learning new traditional tunes, and developing a more refined Scandinavian sound. She also exchanged music and performed with Danish musicians at the Danish music week RØD. In Spring 2023, Aubrey recorded cello on Nyckelharpa player and educator Emelie Waldken’s original album “Genom Natten.”
Each summer, Aubrey brings her musical explorations and expertise to the Mike Block String Camp in Vero Beach, Florida, where she serves as assistant faculty.
Olivia Breen
As an accomplished violinist and fiddler, Olivia finds great purpose in sharing and connecting with people from cultures around the world. As an educator, Olivia values the relationships and trust she builds with her students to be the necessary foundation for all learning and development.
After graduating from the University of Colorado Boulder with a Bachelor of Arts in Music, Olivia returned to her home in Arizona and joined the studio of Taylor Morris as an Associate Teacher. She is entering her second year as the Teaching Assistant at the Tetra Chamber Music Institute, a program that helps students develop chamber music proficiency alongside interpersonal skills such as leadership, problem solving, and empathy. You’ll also find her coaching sectionals at high schools and middle schools in the East Valley, and teaching general music and orchestra at Bella Montessori. Olivia co-founded a bluegrass band called Honeyshed String Band during her time in Colorado, performing at diverse venues throughout the state from Boulder farmer markets to Rocky Mountain weddings. Part of her collegiate studies included a year abroad in Galway, Ireland, fully immersed in Irish culture by performing and playing sessions in all corners of the island. Both of these experiences heavily influence her playing style today.
Additional teaching experience includes her position as assistant faculty at the Mike Block String Camp, and spearheading curriculum for workshops with organizations such as The Harmony Project, a nonprofit that provides music education to students in underserved communities.
